Two years ago we introduced our readers to Modern Barre and on Sunday, Her Campus BC writers and friends were invited back to Modern Barre for their second anniversary. Modern Barre is better than ever and still a great way to have fun while getting in shape.Â
Barre fitness was originally a system professional ballet dancer, Lotte Berk, used after an injury to her back. It has since been adapted from orthopedic stretches and ballet barre exercises into the barre we know and love today. From a combination of Pilates, yoga and ballet, classes are set to upbeat music and move fluidly through rigorous toning and stretching exercises to calming meditation to end the class. Class sizes are small giving allowing instructors to focus on each individual offering them individualized instructions and modifications if they have preexisting injuries.Â
Modern Barre’s mission? “To create a challenging yet supportive environment to leave you feeling energized, refreshed, and inspired.” Over the course of two years, it seems their clientele has felt they achieve their mission, with the studio receiving high praise on all media including Yelp, Facebook and Instagram.
Owner, Julia Robinson, has taken her more than 25 years of dance experience as inspiration to create the Modern Barre Method with the goal of “helping others find balance, confidence and fulfillment while reaching their health and fitness goals.” “Her mission is to create a supportive and energizing experience clients can look forward to every week.” Along with the help of seven other instructors, Modern Barre is able to offer its clients a wide range of classes at times that are sure to fit everyone’s busy schedules.Â
Modern Barre is super close to BC. Located at 242 Comm Ave in Chestnut Hill, the boutique studio is less than a 10 minute walk from Main Gate and Upper! Modern Barre is a big fan of BC students which is why BC students can get their first week FREE by using the code BCBARRE. Grab your friends and use this amazing offer for a fabulous workout that will leave you rejuvenated and definitely a little sore the next day!
