Welcome back to DIY Friday! Today’s project requires a little more work than usual, but I have confidence you can do it just like me! It’s a DIY headboard for your bed. This is a great craft to spice up your dorm room.

What you will need:

  • Cardboard
  • Foam mattress topper
  • Fabric
  • Tape
  • Fabric stapler and staples

First you will have to pick up some cardboard. Then you can cut it any shape you want. I recommend oval or square because those are classic shapes for headboards, but feel if you want somehting different, do some research!

Once you have the cardboard cut into the shape you want, take the foam mattress topper and cut it down to match the size of the cardboard. To attach it to the cardboard you will need a stapler or tape. Try to do this on the edges so the headboard will remain smooth. This will be helpful when you are leaning against the wall so it’s not bumpy.

Now that you have a soft headboard, you get topersonalize it with fabricthe fabric of your choice.

Take the fabric you have picked out and staple it onto the cardboard and foam. When it comes to the fabirc, you can even take fabric markers or paint and decorate the fabric even more; one of my favorite ideas is to stencil your monogram onto the center of the headboard.

Once you’re done, lean it up against the wall behind your head and you’re good to go! Now you have a comfy headboard to lean on while you are sitting in your bed!
