With Thanksgiving being tomorrow, I only thought it fitting to list ten movies I am most thankful for. While not all of them are holiday movies, they all do have a special place in my heart during this wonderful time of year.
10.) Miracle
Who doesn’t love to watch a movie completely based upon one of the greatest, if not the greatest, moments in sports history of all time? Miracle tells the true story of the 1980 USA men’s Olympic hockey team, a group of college kids, who came together to take on the Goliath of hockey– the Soviets. With the winter Olympics being held in Sochi, Russia this February, what better way to prepare than watch this fabulous movie? And did I mention the super cute actors? It doesn’t get much better than Eddie Cahill, Nathan West, or Michael Mantenuo.
9.) The Holiday
This movie is just great. The Holiday tells the story of two women stuck in a love rut when they, through the power of the internet, decide to switch homes for the holidays. Both with new surroundings, the two women fall for men in their new space. What happens when both women must return to their homes?

8.) Prancer
This movie literally has it all. Follow young-girl Jessica as she faces the holidays after her mother’s death. When she finds a deer in the woods that she is convinced is Prancer, one of Santa’s reindeer. She hides the deer in her shed until she can return him to Santa. A whole slew of bumps in the road happen along the way. However, will Jessica and her family be able to still believe in the spirit of the holidays?
7.) Joyeux Noel
If you have not seen this movie, make sure you see it this holiday season! Nothing will ever make you more appreciative of the life around you than this amazing film about the German, French, and Scottish soldiers who called a Christmas truce during 1914. Loosely based on the historical event, Joyeux Noel tells the touching story of the power of the holidays to bring everyone together.

6.) Love Actually
I cannot get over the cuteness of this movie. Love Actually follows eight different couples with loosely connected stories on their passage to find love. Set in London, England, this movie takes us all on the journey of the heartaches and woes of life and love, especially during the holidays. Add in the hustle and bustle of the festivities, and this one will hoping that winter is an all year thing.
5.) The Santa Clause
An oldie but a goodie. Tim Allen stars as an advertising executive who accidentally kills Santa. When his body begins to experience complicated changes, he soon realizes that he has magically been ordered to replace Santa. The Santa Clause is a lighthearted family comedy that is a holiday must see.

4.) Serendipity
While not a holiday classic, this movie is just too cute to pass up during the holidays. Grab a nice cup of hot chocolate, a blanket, and follow Jonathan and Sara along quite the journey. Johnathan and Sara met one night and have a mutual connection. Allowing fate to decide their destiny, Sara and John end up splitting ways, only to be reminded of each other years down the road. Will fate bring them back together again?
3.) Planes, Trains, and Automobiles
As someone who travels about 200 miles to get home for the holidays, sometimes the stress of the long travel has the ability to make me lose sight of the gift of having a home to go to. Take the journey with Neal and Del on their journeys home for Thanksgiving. And allow them to serve as a reminder to be thankful for the journey.

2.) The Polar Express
Need I say more? This animated movie starring Tom Hanks has one of the best holiday soundtracks ever. Follow a group of young children on their journey to the North Pole as they discover the true meaning of the holiday. Nothing quite brings out the spirit of the holiday like a journey to the North Pole.
1.) Elf
It does not get much better than this. This holiday classic just brings out all of the best things about the holidays– singing Christmas Carrols, snuggling, family, the New York City tree. Nothing will ever beat a movie set in New York during the holidays.
