How To Decorate Your Dorm Room

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Bentley chapter.

When decorating your room go with colors that work together but also don’t overwhelm the room. For example, this room uses black and white with accents of pink. Also make sure to have lots of pictures from home to decorate your walls!

With a small college closet it is very important to learn how to use your space wisely. That’s why these hanging shelves are smart because you can hang up clothes on one side and put folded things on the other.

With such limited space it is also smart to bring some extra storage such as the black end table with four drawers or the metal shelf and hanging rod which could be used for storing things or hanging clothes. It is also important to use your desk space wisely.

When you are in a suite you may be lucky enough to have a huge storage closet. These people used the space as a walk in closet but also as a pantry for all their food and other supplies.

Looking for a unique way to decorate your room or common room? These girls would put up sticky notes with funny things their roommates had said throughout the year. It not only is a talking piece but it is something they can keep doing throughout the year.

One sure way to keep you from getting too home sick during the holidays is to decorate your room. And if you want you can just leave them up like these people did to keep your room looking festive all year round.

Most freshmen living in Trees design their rooms with a bed and desk on either side of the room. It works well because it gives each person a side of the room that they feel is theirs. Also, when you use cubes like in this room you can maximize your space.

This is one of the elusive freshman singles in Slade (obviously a boy one due to the lack of decoration). Although the room is quite small if you’re looking to not have a roommate you can make this work for you.

One of the most valuable tools that students can use to make more room in their dorm is to use the space under their bed to store food, water, and other miscellaneous items.

Possibly one of the most tricked out rooms at Bentley, these students ditched the Bentley furniture in place for their own massaging couch and moon chairs. Add to that the big screen TV, speakers, and posters of Jack Johnson and Dave Matthews. Oh, and you can’t forget the fireplace (don’t worry, it’s not real fire). And while most people at Bentley don’t want to fork out the money for all this it does give some ideas on how you can make your common room feel more like home.

And one of the most personal decorations you can add to your room is a fluffy friend from home! Hope this gave you some new ideas for decorating your dorm room! Have fun collegiettes!
