How To Romanticize Studying

Updated Published
This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Bentley chapter.

The new academic year is back… and so is all the stress, anxiety, work, and loss of free time. While there are so many amazing parts of being back at college, it can be hard to remember all the fun and exciting things you get to do when you are overwhelmed with everything you have going on. So, I will give you my favorite tips and tricks for romanticizing your college experience and having a fantastic new year!

Music music music

Listening to music is one of the best ways to romanticize school. There is music to fit every mood. Whether you’re studying on a rainy day or walking to class, music can transform your mundane experience into something fun.

Study aesthetically

I think we can all agree that watching those videos of people using 12 different highlighter colors to take the most aesthetic (yet impractical) notes you’ve ever seen is more enjoyable than we’d care to admit. While it may not be the most effective way to study, there are helpful study tricks that can be made aesthetic. Try highlighting keywords in different colors or setting up a cute study space before you start!

Change up your location

Finding new places to study can help give a new vibe to your study sesh. Sometimes, the school library just isn’t cutting it. Try going to a cute coffee shop, studying outside at a gorgeous park, visiting a public library in Boston, or hitting up a new place on campus. A slight change in pace can help change the whole vibe of studying.

Take walking breaks

Sometimes after a long time in the library, you need to move your body a bit and get your energy back up. Getting some sunlight outside, or breathing in the fresh air can be a great way to reset. Not to mention, walking around a gorgeous campus can really make you feel like you’re living out your college movie dream.

Make time for fun

It can be hard to make time in your busy schedule to do things that bring you joy, but those memories will stay with you forever. I guarantee that 30 years from now, you won’t remember the grade you got on that one test in that class, but you will remember the days you spent exploring Boston with your best friends. Try not to take yourself so seriously and have some fun.
