It’s that time of year again! Halloween is almost here and if you’re scrambling to decorate your room for Halloween, here are some quick last minute crafts you can do to impress your suitemates and friends!
DIY Halloween Garland
What you need:
- Ribbon, thread, or a thin rope
- Cardstock paper
- Hole Puncher
- Scissors
- Optional: googly eyes, markers, glitter
What to do:
1. You can choose from a series of different designs for your banner. Some ideas are to make bats, ghosts, pumpkins, or pennants in Halloween colors.
2. Whichever you choose to do, begin by cutting out your shape from the cardstock paper.
3. Make enough of the shape to create a whole banner.
4. At the top of each shape, punch two small holes using the hole puncher.
5. Thread your ribbon or thread through the holes, repeating until you have all of the shapes in line.
6. Finish your banner by adding googly eyes to bats or ghosts or creating your own personal touches.
Origami Pumpkin Lights
What you need:
- Origami or wax (orange) paper cut into squares
- LED Christmas lights
- Tape
- Marker
What to do:
1. Make an Origami balloon by following these steps with square pieces of paper:
2. Decorate your boxes by creating a jack-o-lantern face on one side.
3. Make sure the hole is at the top.
4. Blow into the hole and shape your box to bring your pumpkin to life.
5. Carefully string the lights with the balloon boxes and attach each with a small piece of tape.

Painted Pumpkins
What you need:
- A pumpkin
- Acrylic paint
- Paint brushes
- Cup of water
- Newspaper
What to do:
Grab some friends and take part in this classic Halloween tradition! Cover your work space with some old newspapers. Then take a look at Pinterest for some inspiration and find a design that you like the best. Take your brush and begin painting. Before you know it, you’ll have a beautifully decorated pumpkin to spruce up your dorm room.
