With winter break coming to a close, professors are beginning to set up their Blackboard websites and move-in dates are coming up quickly. It can definitely be an overwhelming fact that relaxing time is over and that it’s time to get back to studying. With that said, there is no reason to overstress just yet. If you are someone who can’t help but stress things, I have some motivation and tips that’ll hopefully give some reassurance!
1. Time management is key!
If I had a motto, there is a 99% chance this would be it. If you’re anything like me and have a busy schedule then Outlook and a planner are your best friends. When things get especially overwhelming, that’s when it’s most important so make sure to start right at the beginning of the semester so you can keep building the habit.
2. You are at the next step to the future!
As a freshman, I am now starting my second of eight semesters at Bentley. However, some of you may be seniors finishing up undergrad or juniors going abroad. It doesn’t matter where you are but what matters is that every step is a step to the future. If you have huge dreams that you hope completing college will give you, think of this next semester as the next step in the journey to those goals.
3. Be mindful of yourself and those around you
It is especially important right now to be extra careful with the surge in COVID cases. At Bentley, we are taking on a 2-week hybrid model to ease students into being back on campus, as well as to hopefully prevent a spike in cases. My biggest tip going into this semester is to abide by your university’s guidelines regarding COVID so we can prevent the spread and keep everyone safe and healthy.
4. Don’t forget to take care of yourself
Unfortunately, a new semester can bring a LOT of stress. Once the readings, homework, projects, etc. start piling on, it can seem like there is no way out. In these stressful times, don’t forget to take care of yourself. If you feel too burnt out, find a relaxing activity. Overworking yourself will mean nothing if you are at your absolute worst. Designate time to yourself for some serious wellness and self-care!
5. You GOT this!
If you’re anything like me, this can be the biggest motivation you can hear, whether it’s from a friend, parent, or stranger. Just remember that you are strong, amazing, and can persevere through anything. Don’t let this semester drag you down. Remember your worth and strength, and that nothing can knock you down.
Here’s to an exciting and blessed Spring 2022 semester. I hope you all enjoy yourselves!
