Beginning in the fall semester of the 2015-2016 school year, Bentley University will be using a new scheduling system. In this new system, 5 more minutes will be added to each class period and classes will run from 8 am to 9:10 every night.
In the new schedule it is harder to take full days off to do internships or jobs. Friday classes are now more common, causing students to be angry because this ruins their Thursday night plans. Also there are now more day bombs than there had been before. Many students do not enjoy sitting in class for that long, but some classes now are only offered as bombs forcing students to take them and either become distracted in class or risk skipping, missing a weekā€™s worth of material. Also with many more day bomb times, many classes are now falling at the same time, and students are having trouble getting professors they want because so many classes conflict.
Though this seems like a lot of negatives for the new system, some students will benefit from it. Athletes now have more options for classes with offering day bombs prior to their practice times. This also benefits kids who enjoy getting up early in the morning because they are now able to finish their day of classes earlier in the day. This new schedule seems a little odd at first and has received some hostility from the students because they might have to wake up a little earlier, but down the road I bet we all will get used to it and it will never seem odd anymore.
