back to school

We are so excited to get back into the “groove” in person this semester! We can say goodbye to virtual classes and revisit our academic buildings, rekindle our relationships with our friends, and work twice as hard with what we lost during 2020. With extracurricular clubs and organizations, sports, and Greek life, we are ready to finally be in the full swing of productivity and get the full academic experience!

house/dorm decorations

One of the items that Her Campus Bentley is excited about this fall is house and dorm decorations! One cute decoration that is essential are mini-colored pumpkins! You can use these as either a centerpiece on your dining table or on the coffee table. Decorative fall-themed pillows, artificial (or real) flowers, and scented candles are also subtle fall-themed decorations that you can get at the local Waltham Home Goods or Target in Watertown. Another dorm hack is to get a fall-themed doormat and place it by your door to make your room more warm and friendly to your guests.

All things pumpkin!

Pumpkin flavored coffee, pumpkin-flavored cake, pumpkin-flavored pie, pumpkin scented candles, pumpkin spice scented perfume… all things pumpkin is the third thing we are excited about this fall! Try stopping by Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts to try the fall pumpkin spice lattes or espresso drinks on their seasonal menus.

apple picking & pumpkin patches

Two places near Bentley with gorgeous orchards to go pumpkin and apple picking are Honey Pot Hill Orchards and Red Apple Farm at the Boston Public Market. The thought of going with our friends, family, or significant other to try their delicious apple cider donuts and caramel apples makes our stomachs rumble!

haunted festivities

Anything from Haunted Corn Mazes, Haunted Houses, or Haunted Hayrides is on our to-do list this fall season! To get in the Halloween spirit, make the trip to visit the famous Salem, MA and explore their historic Witch Trials sites. Especially during the month of October, this history-enriched town feels exactly like stepping in Halloween Town from palm readers, to gift shops containing crystals and “magical” herbs, to tours and haunted house festivities. This is a hot take.

Chilly mornings and nights

Nothing feels more refreshing than waking up with a thick cozy comforter in a perfectly chilly bedroom. You wake up with your blanket wrapped around you, walk to your kitchen to fix up a hot coffee, dress in your trendy jeans and sweater, zip up your boots, and exhale out the door seeing your own breath. It’s a gorgeous, bright sunny day with no wind chill, and you are savoring your coffee in your hands as its warmth revives your hands that hold the mug, and as its satisfying burning sensation enters your mouth, down your throat, and to your stomach. Fall weather is at its best before the relentless blizzards we get in Massachusetts.

sweater weather

The best fashion trends come from the fall. This fall, be on the lookout for sweater vests, color-blocked sweaters, collared sweaters, cable knit sweaters, half-zipped sweaters, knit top and cardigan sets, and cutout turtleneck sweaters as they are rolling into the new trend for this season. We recommend checking out Grey Bandit because they provide high quality fits and are in-style with the latest fashion.

leaves changing color

As Bentley students in the Northeast, we are fortunate to experience all four seasons – one being the prettiest (in our opinion) with the changing leaves: fall. The most vibrant colors of red, yellow, and orange make it impossible to not get in the spirit for fall and Halloween!

football games

Football season is here and it is a huge part of our college culture to get excited about upcoming games, support our team and the athletes we know, and go out to games with our friends. Especially for themed football games, getting ready together, painting our faces, dressing in our college colors – and of course – attending the game is always an aspect our chapter looks forward to in the fall. Check the Bentley Football website to get access to their upcoming games and support our athletes!

halloween

Trick or treat! We are looking forward to the Halloween festivities of planning our costumes, whether you are dressing up solo, with your significant other, or with a friend group. Deciding what to go as is just as exciting as putting it all together; putting your makeup on, getting dressed, and seeing it all come together is the best part! Halloween has always been a nostalgic holiday to reflect on with candy trading between family and friends as a child and going around neighborhoods to get candy from neighbors. Now fast forward to college, we can get the discounted candy bags from Walmart and CVS.

thanksgiving

We are all excited for one of the last fall holidays before Black Friday and the winter season. Thanksgiving gives us the power to reconnect with our friends at “friends-giving” or the traditional “Thanksgiving” with our relatives while stuffing our bellies at dinner time. Regardless of differences in culture, what we eat, how we eat it, or who we spend our time with, Thanksgiving gives us the ability to reflect and give thanks to our loved ones.
