Every Bentley student is (or should be) preparing to register for next semester’s classes. Its dog eat dog out there for the best professors at the best times. Everywhere you look, laptops are filled with tabs upon tabs of course descriptions, class listings, and Rate My Professor. Don’t worry though, you’ll get through it.
Be prepared to go through the 6 stages of emotions while trying to pick classes at Bentley:
1. Intrigue: Every semester, Bentley publishes the course description lists and the course listings display all the new classes that will be offered, like the cinema class dedicated to Horror films.
2. Confusion: Students are expected to keep track of their graduation requirements and credits accumulated each semester, but it’s hard to gauge your standing when there are so many requirements to fill, and so many options to do so. Plus, since it’s getting closer to registration, there are no appointments left with academic advisors.
3. Frustration: It starts to get overwhelming when everyone is looking to take similar classes and everyone wants to try and avoid early mornings and getting up on Fridays after hitting the town on Thursday nights.
4. Panic: Everyone’s afraid of not getting the classes they want or need, and there’s always a chance you’ll get stuck with that 8am Friday class that you’ll most definitely show up to in sweats and sunglasses to cover last night’s shame.
5. Excitement: Once you’ve finally picked your classes, you know you’re all set to carry out your busy schedule since it’s out of the way. (Plus there’s always the beloved Add/Drop period that can save you.)
6. Sadness: Yes, you’ve picked your classes and hopefully got what you wanted, but now you’ll realize that you’re this much closer to the end of your days at Bentley. Take advantage of it while you can.
