From its beginning in 2011, FOX’s New Girl has been a comedy hit. If you’re looking for a TV show that will leave you laughing then you should definitely give it a try. Here are five reasons why you should watch New Girl:
1. The Plot
The show is centered around quirky middle school teacher Jessica Day (Zooey Deschanel) who, after a bad break-up, moves into an apartment with three single men. As the guys adjust to their new female roommate, friendships will be formed, boundaries will be crossed, and romance will be on the cards.

2. Jess
You can’t help but love the character of Jess. She’s a breath of fresh air in a world of over-the-top sexuality – essentially a child at heart, Jess loves to sing during conversations, is incapable of saying the word “penis,” and has an innocent view of the world that isn’t usually seen these days. Viewers will watch as she hysterically navigates the dating world and as she learns to co-exist with her male roommates.

3. The Guys
I love each and every single one of Jess’ roommates. Nick Miller (Jake Johnson) is the perpetually grumpy roommate from Chicago who is actually an 80-year old man in a 30 year olds body (no, not actually, but it seems like it). His dour view of the world is in direct contrast to Jess’ perpetually sunny outlook on life, with comical results. Schmidt (Max Greenfield) is the overly-confident ladies man from Long Island who, after losing a lot of weight after college, spends most of his time trying to appear cool and confident (but is often just cocky and offensive). Winston Bishop (Lamorne Morris) is Jess’ third roommate – after his career as a professional basketball player in Latvia ended, Winston came back to the US and struggles to adjust his new life. Fiercely competitive, Winston loves pranks and puzzles – despite the fact that he’s absolutely terrible at them. Together, the three of the guys provide much of the comic relief in the series – and they’re easy on the eyes, too!

4. The Romance
Throughout the series you see all the characters fall in and out of love. Jess struggles to get back into the dating scene after her messy break-up and attempts to find something that has no strings attached. She’s not the only one struggling – Nick can’t seem to get over his ex, Schmidt has to deal with his attraction to Jess’ model best friend Cece, and Winston struggles to reconnect with an ex-girlfriend. Underlying it all is the sexual tension felt between Jess and one of her roommates – the constant will-they won’t-they scenario will leave the audience both excited for the possibilities and frustrated at the character’s inability to see how good they would be together.

5. The Shenanigans
Every episode of the show is filled with the characters doing something crazy. Whether it’s the gang discussing how they lost their virginity, a roommate breaking his penis, Winston thinking he’s PMSing, or Schmidt pretending that he’s Mitt Romney’s son, the laughs never stop coming.
The third season of New Girl is currently being aired on FOX on Tuesdays at 9pm. Here’s a trailer for the first episode!
