Why You Should Start Saying “Yes” More

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Bentley chapter.

Over the past couple of weeks, I have come to the conclusion that life is too short.  In just a few weeks, I will be halfway done with college. Reflecting over my past two years at Bentley, I have had fun and enjoyed my time, but I wanted to make it more memorable.  I am usually the type of person who needs a plan, however, lately I have had the urge to start saying “yes” more. What I mean is that I keep saying yes when people ask me to do things. Too many times I say no to plans because I am tired or just want to relax in bed watching Netflix, but I wanted to start going out more to make memories with friends.

Obviously, you have to learn your balance.  Don’t let hanging out with friends get in the way of studying and prior commitments, but maximize your time when you can.  Throughout the past couple of weeks, I have really tried stepping out of my comfort zone. I have gone into Boston a lot more, and been living in the present, not worrying about the future.  Go to a Red Sox game, take a day trip to Maine, or even just try new local restaurants. These are just some of the ways I have been saying “yes”. Whatever you do, you’ll make amazing memories with friends.  Find some friends who encourage the spontaneity and adventure in you. It is good to not always stick to a strict schedule. College is the best four years of your life, so make the most of it, especially since Bentley is in such a prime location, just outside of Boston but overflowing with delicious restaurants right around the corner.
