Being the Ambivery

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Bloom U chapter.

In our lives we’ve met many different types of people. The ones who can be shy, keep to themselves, and observe. These are the Introverts. We also know the people who could talk to anyone and frankly anything… even the chipmunks on campus. These people can be the lives of the party and are always seen socializing. They are the Extroverts. But what do you call yourself if you’re not one end or the other? Well there’s the Ambivert. The mix between both Introverts and Extroverts. Here’s how you can tell:

1. You have no problem meeting new people. The more friends the merrier, but having your girls with you during the conversation is always a must.

2. Small talk is a great way to get the conversation going, as the Ambivert you have no problem with it but sometimes it doesn’t always seem sincere. So you try to keep it to a minimum to avoid fakeness.

3. Going out to the bars with friends is always a fun time but sometimes you need to sometimes alone with Netflix.

4. Thinking before you say things isn’t your problem… At least most of the time it isn’t.

5. You can balance out whoever you’re with. If they’re loud you’re quiet. You are the Ying to their Yang.

6. You can see through people and pick up on signs that most of your other friends would miss. In the end you can always say I told you so.

7. Sometimes you sit back and watch like going on around you.

8. But other times you want to be right up in the action.

9. When a  topic of interest comes up you can talk a mile a minute listing every single fact you know.

10. When the topic passes you have no problem intently listening and soaking up all of the info.

11. Your friends have seen you wild and crazy.

12. But they’ve also seen you focused, on your game and ready to get work done.

13. Sometimes you don’t know when it’s the right time to insert your opinion into situations.

14. You love attention but only if it’s in the right context.

So if you’re not fully an Extrovert or Introvert maybe you’re the middle… and Ambivert.
