Her Campus: What do you enjoy most about your major?Dani Roth: I love the idea of being able to help people. My grandfather has suffered severe hearing loss after getting older. He had a really hard time hearing myself, my mom, and my grandmother because of the higher pitched voices. Since he was able to get hearing aids he is now able to hear us a lot better and more importantly understand us better especially my grandmother. Seeing how this was able to help my own family I can’t wait to be able to impact other people’s lives in this same way.
HC: What activities are you involved in on campus?DR: I am involved in a variety of activities on campus. As mentioned in the next question I am currently the president of my sorority, Theta Tau Omega. Previously I had held the positions of public relations, and secretary for TTO. I am also involved with NSSLHA which is the National Student Speech Language Hearing Association. I have also worked at the Tutoring Center on campus for the past three years, not only tutoring but working in the office as well.Â
HC: What do you enjoy most about being the president of Theta Tau Omega?DR: Being elected president of Theta Tau Omega was such a humbling experience to be elected by my friends for the position. The part that I enjoy the most about being president is that people feel comfortable to come to me with any issues if they may have them regarding the sorority or in general. It’s awesome to know you have the trust of over 40 girls.
HC: What are your plans after you get your degree this Spring?DR: My plan is to go to graduate school to obtain my AuD, which is my doctorate of Audiology. Ideally, I would like to stay at Bloomsburg University for this however I would be willing to go to any school that offers this program, but preferably not too far away from my family.Â
HC: What has been your favorite Bloomsburg memory so far?DR: My favorite memory from Bloomsburg so far has to be living in my sorority house this past year. Not only was living in the house one of the greatest experiences that I have ever had but I truly made some of my lifelong best friends. We went into the year as friends and sisters but over the course of the year we became inseparable. Overall, as a whole joining Theta Tau was the best decision of my life and I have countless and everlasting memories with each and every one of those girls.Â
HC: Where do you see yourself in 5 years?DR: In five years I hope to have received by AuD and ultimately be working in either a hospital or nursing home as an Audiologist. I love working with the elderly population so working within an independent living or nursing home facilitate would be my ideal place to work.Â
HC: Why should girls/boys choose to rush a frat/sorority?DR: For me personally, joining a sorority had a lot to do with the type of friend group I had in high school. I had a large group of friends and was also on the Tennis Team. When coming to college I really missed the aspect of being a part of something such as a team. By joining a sorority I am a part of something that not only gave me some of my best friends but also allows for us to give back to the community. A lot of people may think that Greek life is all about the parties in reality there is so much more to it than that. I would 100% recommend rushing a sorority or a fraternity. I truly believe that I would not have had as great of a college experience without being in Greek life.Â
