Being in college is rough. Odds are you’re eating ramen for dinner at least three times a week trying to make ends meet on your minimum wage job working in between classes so spending thousands of dollars on a week-long get away is not so realistic.
Being at home for the week doesn’t mean you can’t have any fun though… Here are some ways to make the best of your time off even if you can’t be on a beach in Cancun.
Catch up with friends you don’t see often. Odds are they’re going to want to have fun just like you so send the group text and try to make it work.
Have a movie night. Netflix is a glorious, glorious thing. At least one person in your friend group most likely has it so set up a night after work and binge-watch crappy 80’s movies while eating your weight in cheap pizza.
Volunteer. Time off is a great time to get some volunteer hours in. A lot of clubs and organizations on campus have a minimum amount of community service hours you have to compete and this is a great time to do so.
Visit with family. Realistically speaking, you can’t drive cross country to visit your long lost relatives you see once a year on Christmas, but if you have relatives a little closer try to take some time out of your day to visit, they’ll more likely than not enjoy seeing you while you’re home from school.
Plan out the rest of your semester. This one isn’t as much fun as efficient, but time off is a great time to separate yourself from the stress and look at your schedule in a more effective way. Plan out your study times and when you have meetings and make the rest of the semester go as smoothly as possible!
