School is stressful, we get that. Classes, clubs, friends, jobs… What is free time? Here are some tips on how to make your life a little more manageable and de-stress your days.
Buy a planner – Planners are basically God’s gift to collegiettes everywhere. You can get them in tons of colors, sizes and with different accessories. Picking one out is half the fun of having one too. Make sure when you go to purchase your planner, you find one that is big enough to fit your schedule. By this I mean, if you are going to have multiple notes or occasions per day, get a planner that has big boxes for each day rather than smaller boxes for the entire month. That leads to my next tip….
Plan your day out accordingly – When planning your day, make an hour by hour schedule. This may sound excessive but it is extremely helpful especially just starting out your organization process. Start from the time you want to wake up in the morning and go through every aspect of your day: classes, meals, work, study time, going to the gym. As you become more accustomed to your personal schedule you may not need to go hour by hour but rather by events.
Plan ahead – One of the best study tips I’ve ever gotten to is to fill out your planner for the semester as soon as you get your syllabus. Put in all of the dates that assignments are due as well as when your tests and quizzes will be. From there you can see just how much time you have in between those events to study that way you are not caught off guard when the due date approaches.
Don’t over schedule yourself – Between work, classes, and clubs it’s very easy to overbook yourself. While it is a good thing to be involved in your campus and community you need to remember that you need time for meals, free time and especially sleep. I know sometimes those things seem like the least important part of your day, but it’s crucial that you take care of yourself, even during your busiest weeks.
Take these tips for organizing your day to day life and make this the best semester you’ve had yet!
