Her Campus: What do you enjoy most about your major?KM: I think what I enjoyed the most about my major was the environment you walked into when you had class. My professors were always to welcoming and energetic about their teaching that it made me want to be there too! Another thing I enjoyed was having all my close friends in the same major as me because we were able to face any of the difficult challenges together.
HC: What activities are you involved in on campus?KM: When I first came to Bloomsburg I immediately got involved in the Helping Others program, this was up until my sophomore year. I played a couple of intramural sports over the past couple of years. I am also a member of Theta Tau Omega where we participate in many events on campus, as well as community service off campus.
HC: What do you enjoy the most about being a part of Theta Tau Omega?KM: What I have enjoyed most about being in TTO is the relationship that I have built with the sorority. I’m not only close with the girls in my pledge class, but also with the older alumni and even the youngest girls. The bonds that I have built in these past years are eternal and something I will carry with me for the rest of my life, “It’s not for four year, it’s forever”.
HC: What are your plans after getting your degree this Fall?KM: Honestly, my plans after graduations are only a thought in my mind. I would absolutely love to move somewhere new and start over, but at the same time it also scares me half to death, the idea of moving somewhere where no one knows me. I definitely would love to be substitute teaching as soon as possible thought! That’s a definite.
HC:What has been your favorite Bloomsburg memory so far?KM: Hmm, my favorite memory at Bloomsburg, that’s a tough one to put my finger on. I think I would have to say that my favorite memory would have to be living in my sorority house. Last year, living at Theta Tau was probably my favorite year at Bloomsburg by far. I originally didn’t know if I would be able to handle living with 10 other girls, but it ended up giving me the best memories and the best of friends. I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
HC: Where do you see yourself in 5 years?KM: Five years… that all seems so far away, but I know it will creep up on me! Let’s see, in five years I would definitely hope that I have a teaching job, preferably in second grade, and somewhere down south. I would hope that I am in a steady relationship with someone, but it appears I need to get out of Bloomsburg before any of that could happen. And I definitely want to have my own apartment by then!
HC: What advice would you give to future education majors that are pursuing student teaching?KM: I would just tell them to have fun. No matter where you get placed to student teach, or what grade you get, just remember to have fun. The kids are so inspiring and will change your outlook on the world. Let those kids into your heart and I promise you will be rewarded with your teaching experience every day. Also, enjoy every day with those kids in the classroom… it will be gone before you know it.
