In your eighth semester of college the only think you can think of is “I just want to be done” but what about when you aren’t one of the seniors graduating on time?
At first you’re upset, then you’re relieved because you don’t have to be a real person for another semester/year, but then you get upset again. You go through a roller coaster of emotions in the 16 week semester. All while celebrating your graduating friends “college lasts”. You actually forgot you’re not graduating only until you start to see the tweets, snap chats, Instagram posts and Facebook statuses reading “applying for graduating, whatttt?!” And it hits you again.
Then you start seeing all the posts about Sarah and Julie getting job offers and accepting positions in companies and you think to yourself “Wow, that’s great! Wish that was me!” But then again you are also secretly thinking “Wow, I’m so glad I have another semester/year here. I don’t want to be an adult yet!”
Because let’s face it, while it is GREAT they have big girl jobs it is even more great that you have one more semester/year of college bar drink specials; pushing off your student loans, getting to live with your best friends, going out on a Sunday night when you have an 8 am class the next morning, being hung over in public is perfectly acceptable, and let’s not forget about having one more block party as a student and not alumni.
Don’t mistake what I’m saying for negativity; if you’re graduating and you have that big girl job lined up, you go girl!! That’s actually really awesome. But if not, don’t worry. You will graduate, you will get that awesome big girl job. For now, enjoy it while you can. Soak it all up, chug that bottle of cheap vodka, and it is okay to be jealous of the freshman who have five more years here.
