Returning to Brunswick after enjoying a beach-y spring break can be a bummer. Mere days ago, you could have found us rocking our Salvo cutoffs, soaking up sun, surf and sand, and definitely not doing the reading we swore we would do (ok, that last part is still true).

Now that we’re back to cold hard reality, we fear the rejuvenating effects of spring break will fade faster than our tan lines. Fret not, Bowdoin beach babes! Our wardrobes will be holding tight to that super cool spring break vibe whatever the weather. Here are our picks and why they work.

White Jeans

White is spring’s hottest trend, and there’s no cooler way to wear it than in slim-fit denim. Even if you aren’t walking along the shoreline, you can cuff these jeans at the ankles anyway and pretend.

Yellow Sweater and Gray Tee

You already know to layer, but instead of a dreary neutral cardigan try a bright yellow scoop neck sweater on top. I got sunshine on a cloudy day…

Bomber Jacket

Can’t decide between a leather or denim jacket? Why not have your cake and eat it too? This mixed-material bomber jacket will keep you feeling warm and looking cool.

Black Booties

Sorry, ladies, but mud season just won’t let us break out our trendy cap-toe flats quite yet. Continue to rock your favorite black booties and hang in there.

Turquoise Cat-Eye Shades

The color, the shape, the price: these Target sunglasses have it all.

Palm Print Scarf

Take the tropical with you wherever you go with this palm-printed scarf.

White Cuff

Sassy, classy, matches everything.

Straw Tote

This beach standard is just as good for hauling your laptop, blackboard readings and pencil pouch as it is your sunscreen, trashy novel, and Nalgene.

Bronzer

You can preserve that sun-kissed glow with strategic placement of bronzer. If you chose one with shimmer, easy does it: a little goes a long way. Try sweeping the color in a c-shape along your cheek bones and temples and in a T-shape along your forehead and down your nose and chin. Blend down the edges of your neck and across the tops of your shoulders and collar bone.

Coral Lips

Been wanting to try a bolder lip color but feel like red is a little much? Try coral. It’s fun and playful with a subtle hint of sexy.

Fuchsia Nails

Nothing says spring break like a hot pink mani-pedi, and Sally Hansen’s Complete Salon Manicure line is our personal recommendation for a cheap polish that won’t chip. Bottles sell at Hannaford and Rite Aid for less than $7.

Coconut-Lime Body Crème

Sun burns can wreak havoc on your skin, leaving it dry and irritated. With a coconut-lime scented body crème, not only do you get the moisture you need, you can run around smelling like a piña colada.

Beach Hair

Ok, so perhaps we have never figured out how to get our hair to look exactly like this. Doesn’t mean we aren’t going to try. Start with dry hair and a middle part. Loosely bend the bottom ends of your hair away from your face with a curling iron, using a light-hold hair spray to make sure they stick around at least till the end of class. If it works, please let us know. Seriously.
