So hopefully the HC Bowdoin Ivies Survival Guide was helpful to some of you.
Either way, you’re probably still struggling to recover from the weekend. If you were anywhere on campus, you’re probably a little worse for the ware. Even if you chose not to participate in the Ivies extravaganza, the noise and campus-wide rowdiness allowed for very little sleep and even less work. Now that Mac Miller is gone and countless red cups have been removed from the quad, it’s time to clean up our acts and buckle down for finals. Here are some tips to make this Monday better than the last:
First, go on Facebook. I know it may sound counterintuitive, but if you haven’t already looked, you’ve probably accumulated a few “fresh tags” this week. Reviewing some recent albums, I was struck by the paparazzi-like skills of some of my peers. People were photographed in some compromising situations and fashions. Facebook is a pretty open forum and, while privacy settings may be on your side, you have to be careful about who can see your photos…and what they can see in those photos. Especially if your in the midst of the job-search, incriminating pictures can have major consequences so, even before you get the rest of your life in order, take some simple measures to protect your future (and your dignity): DE-TAG!
After you’ve cleaned up your online image, clean your room. While your cleaning up, drink up! After a long weekend of fun in the sun, chances are you’re still dehydrated. As you sweep, mop, dust, vacuum, and recycle, make frequent trips to the sink to fill your water glass. If you failed to be conscious of your water intake over the weekend, it’s time to make up for it. Hydrating is very important. Didn’t you read the Peer Health signs in the bathroom stalls?! Obviously not, because those same signs advised wearing sunscreen and, judging by the burns I’ve seen around campus, there was very little SPF involved this weekend. I would suggest applying aloe lotion and a lot of it. If you don’t moisturize, you’ll peel and peeling does not look good…especially at the Spring Gala on Saturday night.
Once your burns have been tamed and your urine color is somewhere between 1 and 4 (again, see PeerHealth signs), you can finally hit the books. Use the next few days to catch up on reading, writing, and SLEEP. It’s a bad idea to go into the ‘final stretch’ behind on previous assignments and totally exhausted. Get some rest and allow yourself to recover. It’s been a long semester and it was a very long weekend. Good fight, sleep tight…and look pretty by Saturday night!
