November 13th, is World Kindness Day! It’s a day to celebrate the kind things others have done for you, and also, a day for you to do small acts of kindness for others. Acts of kindness can be tiny but can make someone’s day, and they don’t even always cost money! Here’s 5 Random Acts of Kindness you can do right now to make someone’s day!

1. Compliment someone.

Saying something kind to someone can make their entire day. The people you see on a daily basis might be dealing with something that you can’t see, or they don’t want to talk about right now. Telling someone they have cute shoes, saying you like their hair, or even complimenting their smile can be enough to turn a day around, or make someone forget about the things they’re going through, at least for a little while.

2. Pay it forward.

One of the best feelings is surprising someone with a free treat. Whether you’re in line at Starbucks, or getting something sweet for breakfast, ask if you can pay for the person behind you. This unexpected kind gesture is a great way to put a smile on someone’s face, and it will make you feel great too.

3. Be a listening ear.

When someone is struggling with something, sometimes all they need is someone who will listen to how they feel and validate their feelings. Let the people around you know that you care and listen to them without judgement. Making sure they know that they are heard, and they are valid, is one of the most helpful things you can do.

4. Leave encouraging notes for others.

Whether you’re in school, or at work, or even at home, take some post-it notes and write down some encouraging quotes or phrases, and leave them around for people to find. Leave a note that says, “You look great today!” on the bathroom mirror, or one that says “You haven’t come this far just to come this far” in a classroom. You never know how much someone might need those words of encouragement, and they can leave it there for other people to find, so they can be encouraged too.

5. Tell your loved ones how much they mean to you.

We know how much we love those in our lives, but we don’t always take the time to say it. Sending a text or making a social media post telling your friends and family how much you love them is a small gesture that can impact them in a big way.

Take any of these easy tips and make someone’s day today!
