For my fellow deal-finders, Dollar Tree is a dream come true. Everything is $1.25! It almost feels too good to be true. As a Dollar Tree fanatic, one of my favorite activities after a hard day is to give myself $7 to pick out five items.

I think it’s safe to say that I have spent a lot of time inside the store.

Dollar Tree has a large assortment of products, so below are the top 5 categories I believe are sometimes underrated. Each category also has a favorite item found there. Enjoy the deals!

craft supplies

Glitter, paint, coloring books and wooden animals. The craft section is full of opportunities for creativity. The dollar store has yarn and hooks, vinyl and exacto knives, and so many stickers. Crafting is a great hobby, so if you want a jumpstart on your creativity, the Dollar Tree craft aisle might be a good fit.

As an added bonus, their plus ($2-5) section has almost all the materials needed to spin a tumbler! So maybe check that out if you are interested.

Top Item: Small Wooden chests to paint

Honestly, there are a lot of great products for different craft projects, but these little chests are too cute. Perfect to paint and use as a gift box or small storage space.

medication

The active ingredients in name-brand medications are the same as the generic stuff. Do your research and talk to your doctor, but most of the time, if you need basic cold medicine, it is easy to get for $1.25.

Top Item: Daytime and Nighttime Cold & Flu Softgels

A great go-to for that pesky cold right as seasons change. This combo pack has daytime and nighttime options, with just about the perfect amount for one cold/flu.

Puzzles/Fidgets

Sometimes you just need something small to keep you entertained during long days. The dollar store has a great assortment of fidgets, word searches, sudoku books, etc.

Top Item: Infinity Cube

One-handed or two, this cube is so fun to flip around. It gets your hands moving but isn’t distracting. For $1.25, it’s a very effective fidget.

Decorations

Happy holidays! Need something cheap to spice up your dorm or apartment? The selection of $1.25 decorations gets a little more impressive every year. A great option for “spookifying” or “holly jollying” your life.

Top Item: Vertical Hanging Wall Signs

The designs vary from season to season, but they are the perfect size to add under a light switch or next to a dorm door — there is really no wrong way to use them. Pop up a command hook and you are all set.

Storage Containers

From glass mason jars to colorful bins, Dollar Tree is a great place to get basic organization materials. The sizes aren’t always what you’re looking for, but give their selection a chance before referring to the expensive places.

Top Item: Woven-Look Plastic Baskets with Handles

It can make a great tray for papers or laundry supplies, making sure nothing spills and everything stays contained. The woven look makes it a little more durable than others. There are several depth options.

With that being said, no matter what you’re in the market for, Dollar Tree is the place to start! Happy Shopping!
