In this article I’m going to be speaking about my top three Youtubers that I’ve used to help me get and stay in shape during Covid. I’ve been watching their channels for about two years now. Each one of them have their own style, so I hope by the end of this read, you find something you might consider trying!
1. Chloe Ting
My personal favorite fitness YouTuber is Chloe Ting. I really love her personality and the energy she brings to her videos. Chloe is extremely funny and tries really hard to make working out more bearable. I would say that her workouts are the middle level of the three. She has workouts that are harder and also ones that aren’t as challenging but still give you some type of impact. A lot of her videos have exercises that require jumping (especially for her HITT or higher impact workouts), so if you have issues with your joints, you prefer not to jump or whatever the case may be, then I recommend not doing her more intense workouts. She also has videos that focus on a certain part of the body and don’t require jumping.
Though, there is one thing I do want to clear up. If you are doing a video targeting abs, just because you are targeting that area doesn’t mean you will lose belly fat. You have to also have a good diet and do other workouts to help lose the fat. You may tone the area, but it doesn’t mean that you are going to lose a bunch of weight from only focusing on one area. Also, your body will adjust to a workout if you do the same thing every time, which will cause the workout to no longer be effective. That is why it’s important to switch up the workouts you do and to also do some cardio. I don’t recommend doing cardio every day though because depending on what you do, it can cause more harm than good.
Anyway, as I was talking about before, I have tried a range of different videos from her channel. The ones I normally use when I watch her are her ab and HITT workouts. I don’t always like to get off the ground when I’m doing abs and a good amount of her 10-minute ab videos are on the ground and only a few exercises are standing up. Also, she has some videos where she switches up the exercises so they aren’t sets that are repeated, but she does have videos with those options as well. Another great thing about her videos is that she tries to make sure every person can benefit from them. Some of her videos require weights and sometimes exercises have modified moves that are advanced or more beginner-friendly. She really does a nice job explaining how to do the exercises properly and she also has videos you can watch if you are a beginner so that you don’t injure yourself. She, like the other two YouTubers that I will mention in a bit, all have “programs” or “challenges” that you can follow. Some of them are getting back in shape, targeting certain parts of the body or fun challenges like doing planks or squats. Personally, I’m very awful about following programs like these. I prefer to pick and choose which videos I select, but I have started a few of her programs or watched videos from the programs and enjoyed them. Again, it’s really about the effort you are putting into it that will make the difference.
2. Emi Wong
Another fitness YouTuber I enjoy is Emi (Emily) Wong. Emi’s videos are more beginner-friendly and are more focused on toning than losing belly fat. When I first started working out at the beginning of COVID, I watched a lot of her videos since I wasn’t used to these types of workouts. I used to be a swimmer and though I have had to go to the weight room or do dry-land (which is doing something like HITT or intense training), I wasn’t used to having to focus so intensely on a certain area or even having the strength to do so. When I watch Emi’s videos, I tend to watch ones focused on abs, booty, thigh/inner thigh and her standing workouts. Sometimes I just don’t want to get on the floor and she has a few nice videos that are solely just standing. Her videos aren’t as challenging for me anymore so I watch them on days when I don’t want to overwork myself but still try to keep up with a little bit of exercise. She also has a really cute puppy that she sometimes brings into the videos. Again, she does have programs that I have not done myself but I’m sure are lovely. She is very motivating and I love how she is more gentle. I find Chloe to be full of energy, so I like the mix of both.
3. MadFit
The last YouTuber I recommend is MadFit. Mad used to be a dancer so she is pretty intense when it comes to her workouts. I find her workouts the most challenging and the ones I suffer from the most. What I mean is, I spend more time on the floor trying to catch my breath from her workouts than I do from the other two, but there are videos that are more beginner-friendly. Sometimes she forgets to give time between exercises but you can always pause the video. She likes to make workout videos that have music playing, where you follow along rather than her giving instruction. It’s like a more intense Zumba. There are a few videos where she has made workouts that are inspired by a style of dance. She also really tries to explain exercises well so that you don’t get injuries. She is very friendly and I prefer doing her lower-impact workouts or her ab workouts. She has many videos that are more advanced or require weights. I don’t watch her videos as often but when I’m up for a good challenge, I recommend her channel. Her videos tend to be shorter since they are again more intense but I did a lot of them when COVID first started.

Overall, there are many other channels that are just as great that I have not tried myself. I want to express that I’m not a professional and that you should do your own research before beginning you journey. It’s important to know your limits but also be willing to get out of your comfort zone.
