9 Fun Hamantaschen Recipes for Purim

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Brandeis chapter.

The serving of Hamantaschen is one of those weird Jewish traditions that are hard to explain. Basically, the story goes that an anti-Semitic guy named Haman tried and failed to kill all of the Jews in his kingdom, so we eat a dessert based on the shape of his hat. It’s a strange concept for a holiday dish.

That being said, Hamantaschen is a relatively easy-to-make dessert that leaves room for innovation and experimentation. You can fill them with almost anything, creating a sweet dessert or a savory appetizer.

For this list, I’ve organized nine Hamantaschen recipes into fruity, sweet, and savory options that will keep the Purim spirit alive even after the holiday has passed.
