Halloween for the Hungry

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Brandeis chapter.

Over the past 25 years, the Waltham Group, a Brandeis student-run community service organization, has transformed Halloween from a night of selfish indulgence into a night of community service and immeasurable generosity. Instead of trick-or-treating for candy, as is the norm, volunteers go door to door throughout Waltham asking neighbors for canned goods to donate to Waltham’s soup kitchen, Bristol Lodge. If you would like to get involved with “Halloween for the Hungry,” stop by the Waltham Group table in Usdan this week and donate canned goods, which you can place in special boxes in the Shapiro Campus Center. If you would like more information on how to participate, you can also email either Tina Zhang at xiaoyaaa@brandeis.edu or Caroline Ahn at cahn@brandeis.edu. Have a happy, safe, and sweet Halloween!

Andrea is a sociology major with minors in journalism and women's and gender studies. She is currently finishing her senior year at Brandeis University. She was born and reared in Los Angeles, CA, which does mean that she is a die-hard Laker fan… Sorry Bostonians. When Andrea is not routing on her favorite basketball team, she dedicates her time to her many passions. They include reading and writing about fashion, traveling, exploring new restaurants, spending time with friends, watching reality television (she has a weak spot for Bravo), shopping, and working out.
