The Hottest Date Spots in Waltham

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Brandeis chapter.

It’s getting to be cold, typical fall in Massachusetts, so obviously guys are going to start trying to woo their ladies. One night he’s going to ask you, “So…where should we go, sweetie?” At this point you need a place worth changing out of your sweatpants for to go for your Thursday night date. Look no further. While Waltham is a small town, it’s got some of the best food and attraction in Boston:

Watch City (if you and your BF are over 21): Watch City is one of the most underrated spots in Waltham. It’s a one-of-a-kind bar filled with Boston history. Great bar food mixed with dozens of complimentary beer samples always goes over well. And if you’ve still got time afterwards…

Embassy Cinema: Convenient and right off Moody Street. If you want a cute spot with old-school popcorn containers, this is the perfect place to catch a movie.

Solea: Who knows, maybe it’s your one-month anniversary. Congratulations! Celebrate with a fancy tapas meal at this Moody Street restaurant. Tapas plates are small, so order a bunch and share.

Elephant Walk: If you and your BF are into French or Cambodian food, this Zagat-rated spot located right on Main Street and has some of the best food in all of Waltham. The place fills up fast, so call and make a reservation before!

Little India: Maybe it’s a Thursday afternoon and you’re looking for a chill spot where you can eat as much as you want for a low price. If you’re into Indian cuisine, grab your beau and head over to Little India, where you can enjoy an all-you-can-eat lunch for only $12.

Charles River Canoe and Kayak: Every couple needs a tad of adventure, so while it’s still warm-ish, get motivated on a weekend—or a Jewish Holiday (Brandeis has plenty of those)—and take the boyfriend paddle boating or canoeing on the Charles Bank during sunset. Rental locations are all along the Charles River (closest location in Newton off the Newton Wellesley exit on the Pike).

Ice Skating in Kendall Square: If it’s just too cold to go canoeing because you’re from the West Coast like me, you can hit the ice skating rink and get in the winter spirit!

Okay, so I know sometimes there’s a huge rainstorm and you just don’t feel like getting off campus, so here are some cute date ideas that can happen on campus:

Order-in movie night: Order in your fave Waltham takeout and watch a movie of your choice. You can rent movies on iTunes for $3.99 for 24-hour access.

Climb the Castle: It may be a hike, but grab takeout at the Stein (eating there is always an option as well) and climb up the back fire escape of the castle for an awesome view of the Boston skyline!
