Her Campus: Why did you decide to go to Brandeis?
Claudia Roldan: Honestly, it was a random decision but I liked that its main focus was on Social Justice because I wanted to study in a place where people were passionate and change was encouraged. I also liked that it was medium-sized, and close to Boston (I go there every weekend!). Now I think it was one of the best decisions I’ve made because I’ve met some of the most passionate, kindest, smartest people and my classes always challenge me to think outside the box. I am a better person here.
HC: How did you first get involved with Her Campus?
CR: I had been reading Her Campus before coming to college, I even read Brandeis’ Guide before attending and I really loved the idea of having a website dedicated to women’s college experiences. I knew I eventually wanted to write for Her Campus so I went to the involvement fair after winter break and signed up at the Her Campus booth.
HC: What else are you involved in on campus?
CR: I am a member of Brandeis Global Brigades Microfinance chapter and just went to Honduras with them over winter break! I volunteer for the English Language Learning Initiative (ELL), and I a member of the Students Against Alhzeirmer’s Disease (S.E.A.D.) club. I’m an intern at the Women’s Research Center. I also want to become a more active member of the Feminist Majority Leadership Allience (FMLA) and NARAL! I really like going to the group fitness classes at Gosman like Zumba and Power Yoga.
HC: Why do you write for Her Campus?
CR: I really like writing in an informal manner in a space where people get to learn from each other. I also like writing articles for fellow peers about our daily struggles, and things that are happening on campus, it’s a nice way of getting informed.
HC: What is your favorite part about Brandeis?
CR: My favorite part about Brandeis is the food. Just kidding, although I really enjoy the Currito’s smoothies. My favorite part are the people and the academics. The people here are great because everyone is genuinely nice and passionate about something and they are willing to have deep discussions with you about anything. I love the academics because they have a social justice focus around them, and all of them make me question the way I feel about the world. Â
HC: What is something you wish you could’ve done at campus that you ended up not doing?
CR: I don’t have any regrets as of right now, but I wish I had gone to more theater plays!
HC: What do you want to do after Brandeis?
CR: I am not sure yet, but  I want to join the Peace Corps and eventually go to graduate school. I probably want to do something with health policy and gender equality!
