Her Campus: What attracted you to Brandeis?
Courtney Garvey: I love that there isn’t exactly a stereotypical Brandeisian. We have students from all sorts of backgrounds and with all sorts of interests, and together, this creates a really inspiring and powerful group of people.
HC: What activities are you involved in on campus?
CG: I am involved with the Student Committee for the Rose Art Museum (SCRAM), Amnesty International, Adagio, and (of course!) Her Campus.
HC: What advice do you have for incoming first years?
CG: Try everything and take risks. Keep your mind open to new experiences, even if they seem unfamiliar or scary, because what you find might surprise you.
HC: Where do you see yourself in ten years?
CG: Can I get back to you in nine years…?
Quick Facts:
Secret Talent: I’m a pretty good chef/baker. One of the toughest parts of being away from home has to be not having easy access to a kitchen.
Favorite Spot on Campus: The Rose Art Museum
Favorite Song of the Moment: Ophelia – The Lumineers
Favorite Boston Attraction: The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum
Favorite Class at Brandeis: It’s a tie between History of Fashion in Europe and Early Modern European History  (If you haven’t noticed yet, I’m a fan of history).
Prized Possession: A notebook I keep with my favorite poems and passages from books.
