So you’re staying on campus for February break. You probably plan to mostly stay in your room enjoying some much-deserved sleep and Netflix, as well as working through the mountain of assignments your professors conveniently timed to be due after break. While that is a totally legitimate plan, why not take advantage of the quiet campus to do some things you probably wouldn’t be able to due during the busy semester? Here are some ideas:
When you go to Sherman, take up an entire table.
We all know that if you go to Sherman for dinner, you’ll probably have to search long and hard for an empty table. Usually you end up squeezing in at a long table with a million other people. When campus is quiet over break it is the perfect opportunity to spread your stuff out and take up as much space as possible.
Trying talking loudly in the dungeon.
It is pretty unlikely you’ll find many people working on this silent library floor over February break. When school is in session, you would definitely get some looks, or at least get shushed, if you made any noise. But, during this quiet time why not make a little noise down there? See how it feels to be a rebel!
Sing loudly to your music as you run through your dorm.
I mean maybe you already do this. But now you can do it without potentially disturbing or irritating your neighbors. Bonus!
Sit wherever you want.
Do not underestimate how great this is. During the semester, seats are almost always occupied. Think about it, those comfy chairs in Mandel Atrium? Always seem to be occupied whenever you want to sit there. That one high table you really wanted in Upper? Unfortunately taken. But, when campus is near empty you can sit wherever you want.
Whatever you decide to do on campus, we hope you have an amazing “staycation” this February break. Try to do something silly on campus this week, and enjoy!
