Year: Sophomore
Hometown: Shrewsbury, MA
Major: Not Declared. Intended Major in Politics Psychology and Minor in Theater and Social Justice Policy
HerCampus: You have been featured in a 24-Hour musical here at Brandeis. How did you start your
career in theater?
Sneha: So, I have known about the 24-hr musical since last year by a couple of friends who did it. I do
theater on campus, but I didn’t do the 24-hour last year. I really regretted it. So, I took the
chance to try it out this year. I’ve always like theater in high school, but never really got involved. Last
semester I decided to do the comcasting (for In the Next Room, or the Vibrator Play) where you basically
try out for a bunch of shows through one audition, and I was cast in a show. I had a really good time.
This semester I am in a theater class, and I’m also in Macbeth this semester.
HC: Wow that sounds interesting. You also said that you wanted to major in Psychology among other
majors and minors. Why did you choose this array of studies?
S: Politics, Psychology, and HSSP really connect for me; Theater is different for me than all of those.
I thought coming into college that I wanted to do Law or politics and be part of government as an
elected official. But, I realized in college that there is a lot more talking and communicating with people
at all levels at the grassroots. It made me want to think about all those aspects and try to meld them
into something that will be helpful in public policy.
HC: Did anything inspire you back in your past to make you decide that this is what you want to
study?
S: In high school, I was involved in Speech and Debate and particulary on the Debate side. So, that really
opened my eyes on how the political structure impacts every citizen in United States and
abroad. I took a Psychology class my senior year, and it was really interesting. I thought that those two
would really complement each other well. Coming into to Brandeis I learned about the Social Policy
program, and I took a class [Social Movements] last semester. I loved it, so I want to continue on this
route.
HC: Since you were an OL this year, can you tell the readers about your experience and why you
decided to be one?
S: Yeah, it was so much fun. I loved meeting new people during training and doing a lot of things. I also
learned a lot about Brandeis that I didn’t know before. They also created a Social Justice pre-orientation
program, and I was the Social Justice OL. It was cool to be able to talk to the students interested in it, get close with a small group of people and do a lot of activities together. Back in freshman
year, I had a really good time in orientation. I also had a really great OL last year, and she really
recommended it. It sounded fun to be an OL.
HC: Normally, I tell the celebrity to tell the readers something quirky about themselves that no one
would typically be able to figure out by just seeing you for the first time.
S: Hm…Well, my mother and I have an obsession with lighthouses. But, I also love friendship bracelets.
