It’s been a crazy year for Her Campus Brandeis’ first years! Â Check out what they learned during their freshman year of college:Â
Lysol Wipes are everything.
A dirty desk is the ultimate buzz-kill. Trust me, you don’t need another reason to avoid this area of your room. Investing in Lysol wipes is a necessity–and some of them will make your room smell really good. #twoforone
Waking up early makes you so much more productive.
Does is kinda suck? Yeah, but does it allow you to do soOoOo much more with you day? Hell yeah. Â Waking up at 12 p.m. is sometimes just necessary, but forcing yourself to get up and start your day before Sherman starts serving lunch is kinda the best.Â
Â
All nighters almost NEVER make a difference.
While we would like to believe that staying up all night to do work will redeem our lack of productivity from the weekend, all nighters take an unnecessary toll on your body. Â Oh, and by the way, cramming just makes it harder to internalize and retain information. Â
Laundry isn’t so hard after all.
Every college student dreads being responsible for cleaning their own rooms, washing their own coffee cups, and let’s not forget, doing laundry. Laundry only requires a few steps after all- load washer, swipe your card, and choose a setting. So don’t let your laundry pile up, instead prove to your parents that you not only can ace neuro, but that you can even do your own laundry.
It’s okay to cry in front of others, even if it’s in Usdan
First year is hard, everyone is going through it or already did. Allow yourself to miss home and your friends. Shitty days are usually worse in college, but don’t let them bring you down.
Eat and drink before/while drinking or find a hangover cure that works for you
It’s so important to stay hydrated while going out with your friends and to eat something before. Every time I’ve been hungover is because I didn’t properly hydrate or eat before turning up. Mistakes will still happen and you won’t always hydrate so find some hangover cures online, they will come in handy, trust me.
