Imagine it’s a Friday night and you and your friends are deciding where you should go for dinner but the idea of eating at Sherman or ordering Baan Thai for the thousandth time this week is enough to make you sick and broke. Want to eat food that is not only delicious but also affordable for a college student? Then I have the answer for you; a Mexican restaurant in Waltham named Taqueria Mexico!
Just take the Branvan to the corner of Charles and Moody and Taqueria Mexico is only a short little walk away at 24 Charles Street. It’s impossible to miss the big glowing sign with the words. As soon as you walk in you are welcomed in with a big smile and attended to immediately.
The family style atmosphere can make anyone feel like they are sitting at home in their own kitchen waiting for a nice home cooked meal. Their Mexican style menu has everything. If you enjoy exotic, spicy foods I would definitely suggest coming here. Even the chips and salsa they serve while you wait for you food has a certain kick to it. However, if you are like me and spicy is not your thing, that’s fine too! The waiters are more then happy to accommodate you by making your meal as mild as you want.
I recently went to Taqueria Mexico with a large group of friends and not one of us ordered the same dish. I tend to stick with what I know, so I ordered a chicken quesadilla for only $8.15! This quesadilla was by far one of the best I have had in a while. They serve the quesadillas with rice, beans, sour cream and guacamole, so even the smallest order can fill you up. A friend of mine that lives for spicy food ordered the Burrito Combo, a lamb burrito with chicken enchilada cooked in green sauce with melted cheese and sour cream on top and it is served with rice and salad for only $8.10! What a huge meal for such a reasonable price!
Now for the most important part of a Mexican meal: the guacamole. I tend to judge Mexican restaurants based on the quality of their guacamole. In order to have an amazing Mexican restaurant, your guacamole has to be out of this world. I have literally stopped eating at certain restaurants because I did not enjoy their guac. I was nervous when I saw the waiter walking over with the guacamole when I was at Taqueria Mexico. I couldn’t stop asking myself, how could I write a review for a restaurant if their guac wasn’t up to par? This fortunately was not the case. Taqueria Mexico’s guacamole was to die for. My friends and I were literally stabbing each other with the nacho chips fighting over who would get the last scoop of guacamole.
I would not only recommend this restaurant for others to attend but I know that in the future when deciding where to go for dinner with my friends, I will fight to go eat at Taqueria Mexico. Their hours are Monday through Thursday 10 am to 10 pm, Friday and Saturday 10 am to 11 pm and Sunday 10 am to 10 pm. You can also call at 781-893-2205 to make a reservation. Their menu is also available online at http://www.taqueriamexico.com. Buen provecho!
