Why are you making the decision to leave?
I’m not totally sure what I want to do with my life or what I want to study, so it seems pointless to spend all this money when I don’t know what I want to do.
Where are you from?
I’m originally from San Bernadino County, California, but I currently live in Canton, GA.
Why did you decide to join Her Campus?
I’ve always enjoyed writing, but I never had a platform for it. I saw something in Owens that said they were looking for writers and it seemed like a good as opportunity as any.
What are some of your favorite moments from Her Campus this year?
I think being promoted to Senior Editor was definitely a highlight. I had texted Kenya a few days before saying I was worried by writing wasn’t up to par, so being asked to be editor was a big boost to my confidence.
What would you say to someone who wants to join Her Campus but is afraid to join clubs/organizations?
You miss 100% of the shots you don’t make. You never what kind of opportunities you’ll miss if you don’t try something. It’s a lot of fun, everyone is really supportive of each other, and you learn a lot, so you’ll definitely get something out of it. Plus, stepping out of your comfort zone is part of the college experience. It may be a challenge, but it’ll be worth it.
Has it been difficult to be the editor for Her Campus?
Definitely, but it’s also really rewarding. Editing articles and uploading photos and gifs can be a headache a half, but seeing everyone’s creative side and seeing everyone grow and develop as writers is really rewarding.
