Campus Cutie: Caspar Moran

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Bristol chapter.

This week’s Campus Cutie is our very own Style Editor and Columnist Caspar Moran! In addition to being a HC writer and Social Policy student, Caspar models for Gingersnap models, and can always be seen around campus sporting the latest trends with a cheeky grin, often whilst protesting that he ‘is from the North’.

Describe yourself in three words

Upbeat. Charming. Happy.

You’re a part- time model whilst studying at university. How does this affect your lifestyle?

Modelling hasn’t really affected my lifestyle as my agency calls me up and offers me jobs and I’m at liberty to take each job depending on whether I am free. It’s fun though to have had the opportunity to travel all over the country on different shoots and walk in some exciting shows.

What have you learned, and who have you most enjoyed working with?

Weirdly, I learned that modelling is beyond the realm of just standing and looking good. There is an art to creating a good picture and you have to release your inhibitions to get the best results from the camera. So many of the photographers and stylists have been great to work with, I once googled one after I’d worked with him and found that he had worked with Kate Moss and styled Vogue shoots, so that was pretty cool.

Where would you like to be in 5 years time?

In 5 years time I would like to be on the way to being successful in whatever career I choose. I think by the age of twenty five I hope to know what direction I want my life to go in and be well on the way to fulfilling that ambition.

What are you most attracted to in a woman?

I think there is a nothing more attractive than a successful, powerful and ambitious woman with a great smile.

What’s the most romantic thing you’ve ever done?

I can’t actually think of anything wildy romantic I have done, although this question has made me realise I need to up my game

Do you have any hidden talents?

Does tennis count as a hidden talent? I used to be able to sing, then my voice broke.

If you could meet anyone, dead  or alive, who would it be?

Great question. So many people. Dictators interest me, especially people who have managed to commit huge crimes against humanity yet held onto power for a long time – people like Hitler, Stalin, Mugabe and the various Kim dynasty in North Korea. I’d also like to have met my grandpa, he was an impressive man who counted Mother Theresa, The Queen Mother and Elvis among his contacts.

Are there any powerful women you really admire?

I think Oprah has done wonders for breaking racial barriers. I also think Martha Stewart is an impressive businesswoman who has managed to create a billion dollar brand on the premise of domestic perfection; in that way she has turned female stereotypes on its head because she made domesticity into business. Gwyneth Paltrow has also done a good lifestyle brand, and it is brilliantly executed with great style.

Finally, do you have any exciting plans for the summer?

The summer I have a few interns so that should be exciting, I’ll be doing modelling and I’m going to the Edinburgh festival with some friends.
