Her Campus had a quick chat with Sam from the Roots team to get to know more about their experience as an independent business in this difficult year of Covid-19.

Q: What does Roots do? Tell us about yourselves!
I’ve been a florist for 15 years. We are an independent florist in the centre of bristol, we sell flowers and plants.

Q: What is the story of Roots’ journey? When was Roots founded, by who, and why?
I used to work in the shop and then my boss decided to retire, it was an amazing opportunity that I couldn’t turn down.

Creativity is what we are all about and our customers really understand that and let us totally go with the flow, it’s awesome!

Q: What has been the greatest struggle that Roots has faced as an independent business this year?
Covid has been the biggest struggle this year, it’s been a rollercoaster of emotions…

Q: How can students and locals support Roots – both in the short-term in this national lockdown and over the rest of the year?
Honestly Bristol is such a fantastic city! It feels like everyone is so supportive, the kindness people have shown us and each other is just amazing.Â
