Rumchata Egg Nog
This drink is definitely a controversial one, but it’s a holiday staple. Many gag at the sight of eggnog, but if you are a fan of the weird-tasting holiday drink, here is a recipe:
-
1/4 c. sugar
-
1 tsp. cinnamon
-
5 egg yolks
-
1/3 c. sugar
-
2 c. milk
-
1/2 tsp. Cinnamon
-
1/4 tsp. nutmeg, plus more for garnish
-
1 tsp. Vanilla
-
3/4 c. heavy cream
-
1 c. Rumchata
-
Cinnamon sticks (optional)
Whisk the egg yolks and sugar in a saucepan. Add milk, nutmeg, cinnamon, and vanilla. Heat on medium-low. After 10 minutes (or until thick consistency), and remove from heat (don’t let it boil). Stir in heavy cream and Rumchata. Refrigerate until chilled. Sprinkle nutmeg and add cinnamon sticks on top. Add to mugs with a cinnamon-sugar rim :)
