Coachella 2023: A Complete Style Guide for Non-Attendees

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Brown chapter.

One of the most iconic music festival in the world, Coachella is known for its impressive lineup of artists and fashion-forward crowd. Every year, attendees, ranging from micro influencers to A-listers, bring their A-game and spin on festival fashion, highlighting the latest trends. But even if you’re not attending this entertainment-packed event and are instead hitting the books for finals (I feel you), you can still draw inspiration from recent and past Coachella looks for your next festival outfit.

cowboy boots

With the rising popularity of boho-chic fashion inspired by “Daisy Jones & The Six,” cowboy boots are ideal for adding a western touch to your outfit. They’re Coachella’s main characters every year, arguably making them a festival season staple worth investing in. Cowboy boots are also practical for walking around on festival terrain. Pair them with a flow sundress or denim cut-offs and a graphic tee to embody your cowgirl side.

waves & braids

Coachella is all about letting your hair down and going a bit crazy, so slicked-back hairstyles are not your friend! Loose, beachy waves can give you a free, bohemian vibe that’s perfect for Coachella. To get this look, opt for a curling iron or hot rollers, or braid your hair the night before and let it out in the morning for a more natural wave. Don’t worry if they’re a bit messy – it’s part of the charm!

Braids are always welcome during festival season. Opt for a full French braid if you want to tame your mane amid all the dancing or incorporate small braids into your hair for a more subtle take on the hairstyle. These add texture, interest, and style without being too overwhelming.

all things crochet

As a bikini, a set, a cardigan, or a skirt, crochet is everything everywhere all at once! The chunky version of crochet adds a cozy, bohemian touch to a look, while finer knits create a more delicate and intricate effect. Whether you’re going for a head-to-toe crochet outfit or just incorporate a single crochet item into your look, this trend is perfect for adding a unique and fashionable touch to your festival style.

statement sunnies

Arguably necessary for staying sane under the Californian sun, sunglasses can also be a fashionable serve. With the trending ’80s style sunglasses, which feature bold, colourful frames and tintes lenses, you can make a statement while also protecting your eyes from the scorching desert. Oversized and cat-eye frames are popular choices to complete your festival look this year. Whether you opt for classic aviators or trendy retro frames, statement sunnies are a must-have for any Coachella-inspired look.
