10 Ways To Take Your Dorm Room from Drab To Fab

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Bryant chapter.

The blank white walls of your dorm room can seem both intimidating and a little dreary, but we’ve gathered some great ideas for how to turn your drab dorm room into a truly inviting space!

1. Use a map and some photos to add a personal touch to your room.

2. Create some flair with this simple DIY!

3. Hang some DIY wall art!

4. Make your space more private by using a simple canopy.

5. Spice up your walls with easy-to-make garlands! If you’re not a DIY fan, you can find lovely garlands on Etsy as well.

6. Bring a feminine touch to your room with this clever DIY using either fresh or faux flowers.

7. Make a headboard using cardboard, quilt batting, and fabric. It’ll add charm to your bed without subtracting too much money from your bank account.

8. Layer different types of art (photos, paintings, etc.) on your walls for a fuller effect.

9. Keep the rain/snow/leaves out of your room by making cute “boot trays” to store your shoes before entering your room. Not only are they super cute and super affordable (you can use materials from the dollar store!) these trays also keep you from dragging the elements into your room, which means you don’t constantly have to vacuum in the colder months!

10. When in doubt, hang up a tapestry! Nothing covers boring dorm walls more easily than a beautiful tapestry. You can buy one from the store, or, if you’re crafty, make your own!

No matter what you put on your walls, it’s important to make your space your own. If you use any of these ideas, send us a photo on Twitter or Facebook @hercampusbryant.
