Do you have a taste for the ~finer things~ in life, but have no idea how you could ever afford, or justify buying, a designer handbag, jacket, or pair of shoes?
Well, you’re not alone! There’s nothing wrong with eying luxury goods, but it’s unreasonable for most college-aged kids to even think about affording these wildly expensive designer items!
Â
Good news ladies, there are some options out there to help make your luxury dreams a reality! Her Campus Bryant has done all the research so you don’t have to. We found several websites, apps, and other services that offer pre-owned designer items at discounted prices.
Below are some of our favorite places that allow us to satisfy our designer taste on a budget!
Â
Material World Co.
Material World Co. is a personal styling service delivering pre-owned designer items at up to 90% off retail prices.
They offer a subscription with personally curated boxes of goods to fit your personal style. People can send in their lightly used designer goods, which are authenticated and cleaned, to be resold and sent out in subscription boxes – you keep what you like, and send back what you don’t!
Their mission is to make designer items affordable while encouraging people to buy products second-hand, extending the life of already-made consumer goods. We love their discounted prices and sustainable attitude!
Â
The Real Real / Tradesy / Vestiaire Collective
While these are all different companies, they all do essentially the same thing – buy and resell pre-loved designer items.
The Real Real and Vestiaire Collective are considered luxury consignment online-stores, while Tradesy is a peer-to-peer resale marketplace. All three of these websites sell goods from top designers, some even still having tags, for prices wayyyy below retail value.
All items are authenticated and priced according to their condition, meaning you can find some really great discounts on well-loved products!
Â
Fickle Monster Cases
If you have a love for designer accessories, these phone cases are for you! Fickle Monster makes phone cases using scraps of luxury goods – each design is unique and no two cases are alike. They are extremely affordable (in terms of designer items) as each case ranges from $35 – $50.
Whether you like Louis, Gucci, or Chanel inspired items, they will have a case that fits your personal style!
Â
Poshmark / Facebook Marketplace
Poshmark, Facebook Marketplace, and other online reselling locations are great for finding discounted luxury items. You can usually find the most affordable pieces on these websites because consumers price their own goods for resale.
The downside is that neither of these websites can guarantee authentic luxury items. You can easily get looped into buying a knockoff with a high price tag.
Our tip is to Google ways to authenticate particular items, get in contact with the seller for extra photos or information, and do some research before purchasing. If you’re willing to put in some time, you can get some great pieces at great prices!

If you love to treat yourself on a budget, be sure to check out some of these discounted luxury-goods websites!
