Every student at Bryant University knows that there are plenty of perks to going here. One of the most important benefits is the great educations we are all receiving. No matter what your major is, you’re almost guaranteed a job or acceptance into graduate school with a degree from Bryant. Although we completely love the programs here, sometimes it’s hard to be a liberal arts student at a predominantly business school. Here are the dilemmas faced by students of the college of arts and science, as told by Rugrats.Â
When you tell someone you go to Bryant, and they immediately assume you’re a business student.
“Oh, so you want to be an accountant then?” Actually, no. Not even close.
Business students think you’re a slacker because your classes are “easier.”So what if we want to take Writing for Social Media instead of Super Hard and Boring Finance. We’re still working hard, we’re just taking classes we enjoy.
You worry about the sanity of some business students. Are there actually people in this world who think its fun to prepare people’s taxes?! Are you guys okay??
Your choices in professors and classes can seem limited. Especially if you want to take more obscure courses, like writing or art.
People are always telling you that you won’t find a job.
Or that you aren’t going to make as much money as your business classmates.
When you tell people you’re a communication major, they think you’re limited to being a journalist.
Or that you just don’t know what you want to be. Surprise, communication is not synonymous with undecided.
Also, yes, there are things you can do with an English major other than being an English teacher
The career fair was seriously lacking in arts and science employers. One communication employer. This looks promising.
Professors tend to assume that everyone in the class is a business major.
But it’s okay, collegiettes. Her Campus has your back.Â
