New Year’s Eve is obviously one of the biggest, most exciting nights of the year. Sure you want to bring in the new year with friends or family by having a few drinks, whether it be at a party or out at the bars. However, it’s always important to keep safety in mind. Here are a few of our tips for having a fabulous and SAFE holiday!
-
Stay off the roads: Even if you are sober, there are a lot of people who aren’t on New Year’s, and unfortunately these people often choose to get behind the wheel. Avoid driving at all costs if possible! If you’re attending a house party, make it a sleepover!
-
Declare a designated driver: If you are going to be out and about and must make the drive back home, be sure to have a responsible driver on hand who will not be drinking.
-
Pace yourself: New Year’s Eve is an exciting and fun holiday, but don’t get too carried away! You want to actually remember the end of this year, and the beginning of the next.
-
Don’t forget to eat: Make it a priority to eat before you go out for the night, or have something to eat while you are at the party or bar.
-
Take advantage of the free-ride-home policy: Cabs normally offer free rides home to those who can’t drive on New Year’s Eve. There’s not a good enough reason in the world to get behind the wheel after you have been drinking, or to even get in the car with someone else who has been drinking.
Please keep these tips in mind this New Year’s Eve. Her Campus wishes you a safe and happy New Year!
