Dear Freshmen,
We know it has to be hard right now, and we get it. Making new friends is never easy, especially at this point in your life. All students are anxious right now, worrying what the future holds, worrying for their health and how they can still have fun through this all. Look, at Her Campus we understand that this might not have been what you dreamed your Freshmen year would have looked like. If you are having a hard time making friends, just know other Freshmen are in the same position as you. It might look like everyone has found their friend group, and that might be true for a little bit, but you will too. Bryant is an amazing school that has so many opportunities that allow every student to flourish, so take advantage of those opportunities now.
The first thing you can do is to get involved. Join those clubs that you thought were interesting – not just the clubs that you believe will help you academically – but join the ones that you think are fun. Of course, we would love to have you join our club, but in the end if you find one or two clubs that make some sort of a difference for you then that’s what really matters. Next, start talking to the people in your class, ask them if they want to get coffee or work on homework together. One great thing about Bryant is that there is group work for almost every class. Whether you are meeting in person or on zoom, this is a great way to get to know more people. If you are interested in Greek life at all, do not hesitate to research each organization more. Ask questions to panhel, where they will be there to help provide you with any information you may need for rushing next semester. First semester is always a little tough as it is your first time away from home and your friends that you grew up with, but we promise that this will start feeling like your home soon. We truly love Bryant and are grateful for all the wonderful professors that care about their students. At Bryant, you are not a number on a piece of paper, your professors will remember your name and are there to lend support.
We truly have a beautiful campus at Bryant, so make sure you take time to enjoy it! Take a blanket and go do your homework outside on a nice day. We just want to say that we know it is hard right now, but remember other students understand how you are feeling too. Reaching out to your classmates, professors, or club members is never a bad idea! We hope that this is a reminder that this semester may be different, but that does not mean it won’t be great! You got this!
Love,
HXCO
