Mean Girls 101

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Bryant chapter.

Mean girl problems, let’s face it, we’ve all been there. Whether we were the witness, the victim, or maybe even the bully themselves. HC Bryant has gathered some of our own mean girls stories to share with you and raise awareness on bullying prevention.

“One time I was sleeping at a friends house with other friends in high school. We all went to sleep except for a few of the girls who just stayed up talking most of the night. I woke up around 4am to go to the bathroom and heard those girls whispering my name. I, being a nosy girl, listened in. I could hear them talking about how prude I was because I hadn’t had sex yet and how I’ll never find a guy if I don’t give in. It was the worst feeling in the world to hear people who I thought were my close friends to say things like that about me-especially because they knew I didn’t want to just give up my virginity to any random guy and they knew I respected myself a lot. I approached them in the morning and they apologized but that memory will always sit in the back of my head.”

“I was friends with a group of girls in my Cheerleading team, when all of the sudden, one of them began to really dislike me, and ignored me for no obvious reason. She continued this for 4 weeks throughout our team practices and during the school day. It got to the point when she would deliberately shut the door behind her and wouldn’t even hold it open for me if I was behind her. She refuses to interact with me puts on a fake act around our teammates and coach. She’s even gone as far is to stealing the guy I was talking to, telling him not to talk to me and openly kissing him in front of me at a party one weekend.  This girl just won’t quit.”

“During my first two years of high school, I dated a boy who was in the grade above me. My freshmen year things were amazing but by the time sophomore year rolled around, things took a turn for the worse. My boyfriend started hanging out with other girls on purpose, talking to them behind my back and lying to me constantly. The girls he would hang out with would post pictures purposely on Facebook so I would see them. I’m not talking like one or two girls, maybe like seven. I was a mess to say the least, and the fact they all did it on purpose made it unbearable.”

“Freshmen year, my roommate was out partying one night, when in the middle of the night she brought her date back with her.  I was half asleep when they came in and could hear her saying horrible things about me, and then began having sex in the bed right next to me! I was so sick to my stomach because I had been nothing but nice to her! Talk about lack of respect. To this day she still doesn’t know I heard her loud and clear that night.”
