Name: Kaitlin Carr

Grade: Senior

Graduation year: 2016

Major/minor: International Business CIS, Minor in French

HC: Why did you joined Greek Life?

KC: I wanted to join a group of girls who believed and shared the same values that I keep close to my heart. I also wanted to be part of a family on campus and have those close ties and friendships with girls that I knew would last longer than the four years just here in college.

HC: Favorite memory/thing about being in Greek Life?

KC: I currently hold the position of Vice President of Recruitment for the Panhellenic Council. It’s been a great experience so far and definitely one of the highlights of my college experience, and I just can’t wait for Formal Recruitment Weekend already! I also loved being the Vice President of New Member Education for my sorority, and of course one of my favorite memories is the night I became a Big Sister – shout out to my awesome littles for always being there for me, I love you both so much!

HC: Favorite event in Greek Life?

KC: Besides Formal Recruitment, my favorite event in Greek Life is Greek Week in the Spring Semester, especially Lip Sync. The fact that it’s a week-long event with different activities and events keeps it exciting and I love seeing all the new members interacting with people in their own chapters as well as others they haven’t met before. Last year, we implemented philanthropic and community service activities into Greek Week like a recycling challenge, and creating playbooks for the Hasbro Children’s Hospital. Greek Week overlaps on the same weekend as Relay for Life, so chapters hosted a fundraising event where students purchased pieces of tape to tape chapters’ presidents to a wall, which raising over $200 for the American Cancer Society. We also co-sponsored a table with Bryant CALO where participants painted ceramic hearts called “Hearts of Hope” to honor loved ones effected by cancer. Overall, I just love Greek Week because it’s always a good time, hanging out with all my friends that I don’t always get to see.

HC: What is your role as the Vice President of Recruitment?

KC: Being the Vice President of Recruitment, means overseeing the three chapters during recruitment in the fall and spring semester, and working directly with each chapters’ Recruitment Directors and the Head Rho Gamma. I’m in charge of planning and hosting recruitment events, making sure everyone follows the bylaws when it comes to recruitment; also, making sure every chapter meets their national standards. Lastly, of course, running Formal Recruitment in January with our Head Rho Gamma and making sure everything runs smoothly and successfully!

HC: What are you most excited for about Formal Recruitment this year?

KC: I’m really excited to see the turnout! I loved talking to freshmen and upperclassmen who are interested in Greek Life at Bryant in the beginning of the year at the Org Fair and at our recent recruitment events. I have a really good feeling that this year will be the best one so far! Also, I can’t wait for Bid Night when all the girls come rushing into the Roto to be welcomed by their new home. It’s a night full of high energy and there’s no other feeling or night like it!
