Growing up in Massachusetts, you’re bound to be associated with a few stereotypes about Massachusetts natives. So, we compiled a list of things that people from Massachusetts are tired of hearing.
Â
1. Someone asking if you use the word “wicked” in real life.
2. When someone calls it a water fountain, but you know it’s 100% called a bubbler.
3. When someone calls it Cape Cod, but you only ever refer to it as “The Cape.”
4. People that actually say “Dunkin’ Donuts”, people that judge your obsession with it, and people that question why you get iced coffee in the winter. It’s Dunks/Dunkin, yes we are obsessed, and yes we get iced coffee in the winter.
5. Did you pahk your cah in the Hahvahd yahd? No. Always a no.
6. People calling you a Masshole and thinking it’s an insult. You’re proud to be from MA!
7. When someone asks if you go to Beantown a lot. No, and no one actually calls it that.
8. When people ask why you don’t have a Boston accent.
9. One of the worst: people who claim the Patriots are cheaters. Even worse, when they ask why it’s called the “New England Patriots”, not the “Boston Patriots.” We have Tom Brady, so all of your arguments are irrelevant.
10. Being told you talk really fast and really loud.
11. When you’re told you’re a terrible driver.
12. People assuming that sprinkles and jimmies are the same thing.
13. When you tell someone where you’re from, and they look at you blankly and ask “Is that near Boston?”.
14. People trying to pronounce towns like Cochituate, Leicester, Worcester, Gloucester and Leominster.Â
