By the looks of the title, we know you either are immediately agreeing with this statement or you are telling us to shut up, because in all honesty, we can’t tell you how to live your life.
However, what we will do is be sure that you are becoming the best, healthiest version of yourself. With that being said, working out is going to fall pretty high on your list of priorities, whether you like it or not.
If you are one of those people who dread going to the gym, here are some reasons why you should start going more often!
Â
It Will Make You Happy!
Coming from experience, working out can take any stresses you may have and totally ex them out. To non-gym goers, this might seem absolutely ludacris. How does running, lifting and doing ab circuits make you happy? Science!
It has been proven that working out changes the parts in your brain that normally regulate stress and anxiety —Â as college students, we always have anxiety and are constantly stressed out. Take a break and work out — it may change your mood for the better!
It Helps with Your Weight Confidence (Obvi!)
Though this is an obvious one, it’s a big deal. Our society today is solely based on body image; how much fat is on your legs, how big your arms are, does your butt look like Kim K’s?
The answer is we should love our bodies, it does not matter how it looks. But, we know that this is not always the case. Going to the gym can boost your self-confidence because maybe you want a little less jiggle when you walk – and the gym is something that can help you and will help you with that.
Increase Your Energy Levels!
As college students, we are constantly running around – we have a class at 12, a meeting at 2, and try to eat somewhere in between.
Running through these days will tire you and out, and as you get to your room for the end of the day, there is nothing you want to do more than shut your eyes and take a nap. One thing stands in your way: Homework. Sometimes, you just skip it because you are too tired. That tiredness that you feel day in and day out will go away if you start to go to the gym.
We know it sounds odd, and that maybe you would be more tired after working out, but going to the gym and doing some type of exercise actually boosts your energy levels for the day. If you’re tired, go on a walk instead of taking a nap (you can still procrastinate your homework…we do it too!).
Skin Care, Skin Care, Skin Care
One of the most important and essential things that you need to do as a girl is to take care of your skin. As a community, we are constantly seeking out new ways to have smoother skin and less acne. Though you sweat when you go to the gym, you are relieving stress. Stress produces many breakouts on your body, so to relieve the stress through working out makes your acne go away. Just make sure you wash your face after (or else your skin will get worse… seriously, make sure you wash your face!).
Though these are just some of the long list of benefits that working out has and these are the especially important ones for college students.
We know working out can be a dreadful thing to do, but the more effort you put into your physical health, the more benefits it will create in your life! Look at the gym hours, find fun and exciting workouts, and maybe even find a friend to do it with you.
Physical health is an important aspect of your life, and to be physically healthy will only reek benefits in your life!
