As midterms week comes to an end, we all begin to stress about our grades. With the semester being accelerated, we only have a short amount of time to pick things back up and finish 2020 strong. It is normal for us college students to use finals season as comeback season; however, do not be afraid to ask for help.
The Academic Center for Excellence (ACE) is a free resource to help students navigate the challenges of college courses. Not only can you see a professional within the field you are struggling with, but you can also see students who have taken the courses you need help with. If the idea of booking an appointment scares you, there are “labs” at ACE as well. You can walk right into ACE and ask to attend a “lab” for the following subjects: Finance, Accounting, Math, Writing, Economics, ISA, Legals, and more. These labs act as a quiet place to do your homework or study and there is a tutor right there in case you have a question. ACE peer tutors and writing consultants can help you to better understand challenging material and they can relate to your struggles. A lot of student’s head to ACE to get some study tips before a big exam or have an extra set of eyes to look over a big paper.
Peer tutors and writing consultants can also act as mentors, to help you navigate questions of sticking with your major or selecting a class for next semester. They offer you advice from the perspective of someone who was in your shoes. Your Professors can also see that you attended a tutoring appointment in ACE and know that you are trying hard to excel in that course. ACE tutors and writing consultants are normal students who have a passion for the subjects they tutor and helping others. We even have ACE tutors and writing consultants that are part of Her Campus! College is all about taking initiative and doing your best. Do not be shy pay a visit to ACE to calm your nerves. It is never to early to prep for finals!
ACE and the writing center also offer services especially for student-athletes, international students, students with learning disabilities, and more. To book an appointment or learn more call (401) 232-6746 or visit Unistructure room 275 where ACE is located.
