3 Things To Remember If You’re At College With Your Bestie

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Bryn Mawr chapter.

Heading to college with your best friend can seem like a dream – you can take the same classes, go to the best parties and have an amazing time – but it can quickly turn into a nightmare if you don’t establish boundaries.

Here are three ways to make sure you and your best friend can have the best possible time at college without  getting on each other’s nerves:

 Don’t Be Roommates

Most people will tell you not to room with your friends at college – and they’re right! The easiest way to hate someone is to share a tiny room with them. It can be great to come home to a familiar face, but too much of your better half, and you might get sick of them. And all their quirks and oddities that make them so unique? They’ll just be items on the list of things you now hate about your best friend.

Join Different Clubs

While you and your bestie may love the same activities or have the same interests, it’s always great to explore! Expand your horizons, try new things, and meet new people!

Communicate

Being at college is hard – especially if it’s your first time away from home. It may be easy to get carried away when you’re meeting new people in new places, when everything is fresh and exciting. You may also feel left behind, ignored or be jealous of your best friend. That’s SO normal, which is why it’s important to keep in touch with your friend and check in on one another. Remember: there’s a reason they’re your best friend; hold onto them.
