As a college student and Disney fanatic, my favorite way to end a long day is to curl up in bed and watch a Disney movie. I watched my favorite films on repeat for a while, but eventually grew bored and decided to creatively expand my viewing horizons.

To change things up, I compiled a list of Disney movies that align with a variety of moods. Every Disney movie comes with its own unique lesson—and you might be surprised to discover that there’s a Disney film out there to soothe any emotion or situation you’re experiencing.

Take a look at my list to find the perfect Disney movie for you. And oh, happy watching!

Experiencing burnout? Watch The Princess and the Frog.

At the end of the week, the last thing I feel like doing is homework. Luckily, there’s an effective solution for that—turn on The Princess and the Frog! Tiana’s unwavering focus on buying her dream restaurant is inspiring and helps me to envision the long-term benefits of hard work. I always feel a sense of purpose after a viewing session, and I’m sure you will too.

Stressed about midterms or finals? Watch the Lion King.

No matter how overwhelmed I feel when midterms and finals roll around, The Lion King’s iconic song Hakuna Matata puts my concerns into perspective. While the “no worries for the rest of your days” mantra might be a little too dramatic for me, it serves as a reminder that slipping up on a test—or getting a less-than-perfect grade on an essay—isn’t the end of the world.

Missing your dog at home? Watch 101 Dalmatians.

While I love living at school, the thing I miss most about being home is walking downstairs to greet my dog in the morning. While watching a movie with 99 rambunctious puppies might not make you miss your animals less, the love that parents Pongo and Perdita have for their 15 biological puppies (and 84 adopted puppies!) is heartwarming and absolutely worth the watch.

In a romantic mood? Watch Cinderella.

Cinderella is one of Disney’s most soothing and romantic masterpieces. Even if you wanted more from the Prince Charming-Cinderella romance as a child, the film’s dreamlike songs are enough to make any adult feel a little emotional. The vibrant colors and regal swoops of her gown add to the romantic effect as well, and you just might catch yourself daydreaming for a few hours after watching.
