With warm weather and summer on the horizon, it’s the best time of year to set up new habits and routines! Implementing these habits will set you up for success and help you grow with the May flowers. Here are several ideas to make your spring season a time of growth and positive change to start off a happier and healthier summer.
- Change your morning routine
-
For many of us, our mornings start with picking up our phones and scrolling through social media for a few (or maybe a lot more) minutes. While it’s nice to get a couple of extra minutes lying in bed and relaxing, try switching this out for getting up as soon as you wake up and heading outside.
If making it outdoors isn’t an option, simply opening your blinds can positively affect your mornings. Natural light helps to regulate our circadian rhythms and signals to our brain that it’s time to “wake up” for the day. Getting some sun right away can set you up for less brain fog and fatigue to start your mornings off better.
- Journal
-
One of the best parts about spring is that it allows for a fresh start. Journaling allows you to look back on things that have happened and put them behind you. Even if it’s just once a week, putting your thoughts and experiences down on paper can ease your brain and offer a moment of reflection and deeper thinking. A tiny bit of time out of your day to recount what you did, things you were feeling, and more can also help you be more present in the current moment, which is what life is all about!
- Walk
-
It may sound obvious, but being outside and getting in some movement is great for both your physical and mental health. As the weather gets warmer, it’s the perfect opportunity to spend more time outside and get some sun. Additionally, any movement is great for you, no matter how small! I set a personal goal to reach 10,000 steps daily, but that might not be attainable for everybody. Yet even just 15 or 20 minutes of moving your body every day can make a big difference in how you feel.
Overall, spring is a time of change and growth, and although these are just small changes, they can make a huge difference in your days as we head towards warmer weather.
I hope these tips help you have a wonderful spring!
